Who we are

Mister Electrics is the controller of your personal information.

What we collect

• Your name, phone number and email address
• Your postal address and the address where the work is happening
• A description of the job, including photos you send us by SMS or WhatsApp
• Site survey notes made when we visit
• Website analytics, only if you switch analytics cookies on. None are set today.

Why we use it, and our lawful basis for each purpose

UK GDPR requires a lawful basis for each use, not one blanket statement. Ours are:

• Quoting for and carrying out your work: performance of a contract, or steps taken at your request before one.
• Keeping certification and Building Control notification records: legal obligation. Electrical certificates and Part P notifications have to be kept and traceable.
• Following up on a quote we have sent you: legitimate interests. You asked for a price and a short follow-up is what most customers expect. You can tell us to stop at any time.
• Marketing: consent only. We will not add you to any marketing list without you agreeing first, and every message will include a way to opt out.

How long we keep it

• Enquiries that do not become jobs: 12 months, then deleted.
• Quotes: 24 months, so we can honour or revisit pricing if you come back.
• Customer and job records, including invoices: 6 years after the end of the relevant tax year, as required for tax and accounting.
• Installation certificates, EICRs and Part P notification records: retained long term, typically for the life of the installation. These are safety and compliance documents and future owners, buyers or investigators may rely on them.
• Marketing consents: until you withdraw them.

Who we share it with

We never sell your information. We share it only with providers who help us run the business, under contracts that protect your data:

• Our web host (Netlify), which also processes quote form submissions
• An analytics provider, only if you consent to analytics cookies
• Cloud storage, where job photos and paperwork live
• Accounting software, for invoices
• Certification and notification software, for issuing certificates and notifying Building Control
• Our competent person scheme, which receives job details to record Part P notifications and issue your compliance certificate
• WhatsApp Business (Meta), when you choose to message us there

We may also share information where the law requires it, for example with HMRC or Building Control.

International transfers

Most of your information stays in the UK or the European Economic Area. Some providers, such as WhatsApp (Meta) and cloud services, may process data outside the UK. Where that happens we rely on UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, or its addendum to the standard contractual clauses, so your data keeps equivalent protection.

Your rights

You have all eight rights under UK GDPR:

• Access: ask for a copy of what we hold about you
• Rectification: have inaccurate information corrected
• Erasure: ask us to delete your data where we no longer need it
• Restriction: ask us to pause using your data while something is resolved
• Portability: receive data you gave us in a reusable format
• Objection: object to uses based on legitimate interests, and to marketing at any time
• Rights around automated decisions: we make no automated decisions about you, and you have the right not to be subject to them
• Withdraw consent: where consent is our basis, withdraw it whenever you like

Complaints to the ICO

If you think we have handled your data badly, tell us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the regulator at any time:
