House rewiring in Manchester

A full house rewire in Manchester replaces every cable, socket, switch and light fitting along with the fuse board, and finishes with a new installation certificate. Most homes take five to ten working days. We work room by room so you can stay living in the house, and the written quote is the price you pay.

We are NAPIT registered (Part P approved), so the work is independently assessed and notified to building control for you.

Send us a photo of the fuse board or the job and we’ll come back with a price the same day.

How we work

Room by room, no surprises

1. Free survey

We walk the house, lift a socket or two, look at the board and the earthing, and ask what you want where. Sockets behind the telly, a supply to the garden room, whether the loft is going up later.

2. Written quote

A fixed written price with the work broken down. No day rates, no allowances that quietly grow. If something genuinely unforeseeable turns up behind a wall we tell you before we touch it, not after.

3. First fix

Cables run, chases cut, boxes set, room by room. Dust sheets down and dust extraction on the chasing, because we have to live in this city too.

4. Second fix and certification

Accessories on, board changed over, every circuit tested to BS 7671. Certificate issued, building control notified, and the house left clean.

How pricing works

What moves the price

Every rewire is priced on the property, not on a rate card. These are the things that move it, and we will tell you which of them apply to your house when we quote.

Size and circuitsNumber of rooms, sockets and lighting points, and whether the property needs one or two boards.
AccessSuspended timber floors and a boarded loft make cable runs quick. Solid floors and no loft access mean more chasing.
Property ageVictorian terraces, lath and plaster, and anything listed or in a conservation area take longer and need more care.
ScopeA partial rewire of the ground floor and the board is a much smaller job than every circuit in the house.
ExtrasOutside lights, EV charger, garden room supply, smart lighting or a second consumer unit, all quoted as separate lines.
Making goodWhether you want us to refill chases only, or coordinate with your plasterer and decorator.

Recent job

Full rewire, Victorian terrace, Heaton Chapel

Three-bed terrace with the original 1950s rewire still in place, rubber cable perishing in the loft and a board with rewireable fuses. The family had a toddler and could not move out.

We did it in six days, ground floor first, kitchen kept live throughout. New 18th edition board with RCBOs, main bonding brought up to standard, twelve extra sockets, outside light and a supply left ready for a future EV charger. Certificate and building control notification done the day we finished.

Common questions

Rewiring questions we get asked

How long does a house rewire take?

A two-bed terrace is usually five to seven working days. A three or four-bed semi with an extension runs closer to eight to ten. We give you a day-by-day plan before we start, including which rooms lose power and when, so you can plan around it.

Do I have to move out during a rewire?

Almost nobody does. We rewire room by room and keep at least the kitchen and one socket circuit live overnight wherever the existing installation allows it. If you are having plastering done at the same time it can be easier to be out for a couple of days, but that is your call, not a requirement.

How do I know if my house needs rewiring?

Rubber or fabric-covered cable, a fuse board with rewireable fuses, round-pin sockets, no earth at the light switches, or an EICR that came back unsatisfactory with C1 or C2 codes across multiple circuits. If you are unsure, an EICR tells you for certain and costs a fraction of a rewire.

Will you make good the walls afterwards?

We chase, drop cables and refill the chases so the walls are ready for a plasterer or decorator. Full skim plastering and decorating are not included in our price, but we will tell you up front exactly what state each room will be left in.
